Where money means everything and the pub is the only place to be. This new play by Kim Wiltshire shows how a few lucky breaks can make you everything or nothing.

Tom: Simon Pennicott
Mark: John Last
Shona:Maria Gray
Directed by James Puttock

Kim Wiltshire
Kim is a writer, community artist, lecturer and PhD student who lives in Manchester with her husband, CB. After several years working in theatre and TV, she decided to do an MA in Creative Writing at the Writing School at MMU, which she gained in 2003, going on almost immediately to work (part time) on her PhD in English Literature and Creative Writing, a hybrid study that uses original writing and academic theory to explore contemporary masculinity through the persona of the Loser (http://www.lancs.ac.uk/fass/projects/writersgallery/content/Kim_Wiltshire.html). In 2007/8 she was mentored by Charlotte Keatley through North West Playwrights to write her first full length play, ‘Joy with Child’, which has had two showcases in Manchester, and is currently working on her second full length play. She has had several short stories published, most recently ‘The Rose Seller’ in Migration Stories. She has worked on many community projects since 2003, mostly through Lime Arts and Health (www.limeart.org), and is currently joint lead artist on a Cystic Fibrosis project funded by Children in Need. She is part time Creative Writing lecturer at MMU and an Associate Lecturer for the Open University.

Fleeting images appear and disappear offering a glimpse of true identity in a world of social masks. A feather takes centre stage, tempting and taunting the individuals to reveal something about themselves as it floats on by…
The Living Canvas follows a multi-stranded, non-linear journey through the fragments and episodes that build the identities of four individuals. In this piece the company combines physical theatre, original songs and the innovative use of pocket projectors in order to develop a unique style of visual storytelling. “The Living Canvas Project” forms part of the company’s larger investigation into the interaction between the live performer and recorded image.

”Imagine a time and land where women ruled supreme.
Everything was as it should have been.
Everything was as it had been.
Before the rivers filled with blood.
Nobody knows what’s true but we have the stories.”

A story about women of ancient myth. They’re fighters, leaders and lovers and everything is as it should be, until the pup arrives. Bloody Women is a one-woman show populated by sexually depraved goddesses and one spectacular bull.

As Susurrus I want to re-explore storytelling, without set or props or spectacle, just a voice, some characters and an audience’s imagination creates the simplest and most magical theatre.

Emer O Connor trained at ALRA and besides TV and theatre credits has a special interest in devised storytelling; her devised show with Jo Hammett Looking Forward to Friday (based on office jobs, line dancing and fairy tales)was performed guerilla-style in various offices and went to Coventry’s Pilot Festival in 2004. 2008 was spent creating Bridge of Leaps with Maggie Grace and Claire Mallet, a mix of traditional storytelling with music and physical theatre (premiered at The Space’s Enterprise 08 Festival). Last year Emer also collaborated with performer Melissa D’Arcy and writer Debbie Kent creating Wild Woods (shown at the ScenePool Festival in Camden People’s Theatre) which explored the escape routes of women trapped by circumstance and invited the audience to come with them on a journey through the primeval forest of the imagination.
